Full-Time Customer Focused Store Manager

Reports To: General Manager 

Location: Waterville Loyal Biscuit Co. 

FLSA Status: Hourly / 32-38 hours per week. Includes weekends.

Summary: Manages a full staff of store personnel in achieving sales, service, customer satisfaction and profitability goals for the store. Provides excellent customer service and performs sales. Maintains a clean and professional appearance of our store. Orders and receives product for the store. Interacts with our customers. Follows all policies and procedures. Schedules store staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Specialty retail experience preferred, but not required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of pet care and products is a plus

  • Computer literacy is a must

  • Ability to provide an outstanding and unique customer experience while demonstrating an eagerness to inform customers on products and services

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others to achieve overall goals and objectives

  • Ability to complete daily sales transactions with accuracy and integrity

  • Strong computer skills

  • Ability to use a PC and cloud-based POS system and accessories is required

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Arrive on time and working scheduled hours; available to work evening and weekend hours.

  • Make sure store is covered in case of employee illness or shortage

  • Provide outstanding customer service by being aware of customer needs, answering the phone in a professional manner, being friendly to customers and their pets, demonstrating appropriate behavior around customers and their pets, assisting customers carrying heavier items to their vehicle and loading it into their vehicles

  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn about pet nutrition and behavior and communicating this information effectively to customers, both in the store and on the phone

  • Train your store employees on products, nutrition, operations, policies and procedures

  • Perform sales including assisting customers on the floor, ringing up sales, and assisting customers with carrying purchases to their vehicle

  • Assist customers over the phone and recording special request/orders

  • Perform duties related to inventory, including receiving items to be sold in the store, tagging of inventory including pricing; restocking and maintenance of inventory; preparing, counting, reconciling and overseeing of inventory

  • Perform weekly ordering and receiving from two major distributors and receiving from other vendors

  • Complete the monthly schedule for the staff in your location and assist in filling vacancies due to staff illness

  • Work with the Inventory Manager & Events/Operations Manager as needed

  • Perform store opening and closing procedures

  • Preform daily cleaning duties

  • Arrange and place merchandise on the shelves according to stated store procedures

  • Keep the store neat and clean during store hours, including ensuring immediate clean-up of any accidents from a customer's pet

  • Follow all store procedures related to using the POS for sales, inventory, receiving payments, counting back change, and providing receipts to customers

  • Notifying the General Manager immediately of any emergency situation

  • Handle all aspects of the Self-Serve Dog Wash

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Keep the stockroom spaces organized and clean

  • Keep the store entrance area clear, including shoveling snow from the sidewalk when necessary

  • Ensure that the community board and resource lists for pet professionals is clean and up-to-date

  • Communicate customer's comments and suggestions to the Owner

  • Proactively think about ways to improve the store for the community and your own job satisfaction and communicating those suggestions to the Owner in a professional manner

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager and/or Owner

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 50 pounds repeatedly on a regular basis

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, or walk for various lengths of time throughout the day

  • Ability to utilize computer equipment, cash register, and telephone to complete daily work responsibilities
