Pet Obesity Day

Did you know! In 2018, an estimated 60% of cats and 56% of dogs in the United States were overweight or obese. We know how easy it is to give into those big puppy dog eyes and non-stop meowing, our dogs and cats pull those tricks on us too!

But pet obesity is very serious, and can lead to many life threatening health issues, including kidney disease, cancer, respiratory disease, orthopedic issues and more. But the saddest part of it all is obese pets have a reduced life expectancy.

We all want our dogs and cats to be with us forever, and while we haven't figured out how to do that yet, keeping them at a healthy weight is a great first step to ensuring their long-term health and longest life possible for them!

Calorie management (don't forget to factor in the treats) and exercise are crucial - sounds just like what your own trainer and doctor would say to you, right?? The same principles apply to pet weight loss as it does to humans! And just like humans, you don't want it to come off too fast as that can lead to other health issues. Weight loss is a slow, but totally doable journey!
